Is the Rapture Real?

Let’s talk about the Rapture

There are many who think that one day Christians will suddenly disappear and be taken up to Heaven and leave everybody else behind to face seven years of terrible trouble on the earth. I have to admit that would be freaky. But what does the Bible really say about the Rapture? Let’s take a look!

The word rapture has two basic meanings.

1) A feeling of great joy.

2) The act of transporting a person from one place to another, especially from earth to heaven.

Does the Bible say we will be taken up to meet Jesus? Yes

The Bible says that when Jesus comes with a great shout and loud trumpets, the dead who have believed in Christ (that’s Jesus) will be resurrected and rise first. Then the rest of us who believe in Jesus will be caught up together with them in the air. It’s not so secret, in fact it’s very loud! And says that every eye will see Him.

You can read about it here. 1 Thess. 4:16-17, Rev. 1:7

Where will we go then? To Heaven

The Bible says when Jesus went to Heaven he began preparing a place for you and me, so that we he came back to get us, he could take us to live with him there.

You can read what Jesus said right here. John 14:2-3

And yes, we will have a feeling of great joy if we have followed Jesus with all our hearts!  Isaiah 25:9

Does the Bible say some will be “raptured” secretly and everybody else will be left behind? God’s people will be taken to heaven to live with him. Everyone else will be left – that is, they will not be saved and will be destroyed.

The Bible says that those who don’t know God will cry for the rocks to fall on them and will ultimately be destroyed. Rev. 6:15-17, 2 Thess. 1:7-9, 2 Thess. 2:8

The Bible says Jesus’ coming will be noisy and everyone will see him.

“Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. 31 And He will send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.” Matthew 24:30-31

The Bible says just like when the flood came and destroyed those who were not in the ark, when Jesus comes again some will be saved and others will not. There will be no second chances, just like when the flood came and took them all away.

“But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. 38 For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark,39 and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. 40 Then two men will be in the field: one will be taken and the other left. 41 Two women will be grinding at the mill: one will be taken and the other left.” Matthew 24:37-41

Jesus is coming soon to get us and take us to Heaven. It will be a wonderful and glorious day for those who have followed Him. Do you want to follow Him today? I do!
