Have you ever been in a loud room where someone was trying to talk to you? Maybe you heard noise, but you couldn’t understand the words. Sometimes the noise of our busy schedules and the distractions of life muffle the sound of God’s voice. Sometimes it’s our own preconceived ideas or the lies of the enemy that influence what we think God is saying.
In Revelation, Jesus says, “He who has an ear, let him hear” (Revelation 3:22). Let’s explore how we can make sure our ears are hearing clearly.
Does Everyone Hear God the Same Way?
Unfortunately, no! Some people hear God’s warnings and get scared. Others hear them and understand that He is calling them to safety. This is very common with the book of Revelation, and especially the seven trumpet plagues. Are they judgments to strike fear into our bones, or are they something else?
One of God’s Loud Warnings
The fourth trumpet sounds a bit scary. The Bible says that before Jesus comes again, there will be signs—like the sun, moon, and stars going dark (Mark 13:24-27, Rev. 8:12).
Then the fourth angel sounded: And a third of the sun was struck, a third of the moon, and a third of the stars, so that a third of them were darkened. A third of the day did not shine, and likewise the night. -Revelation 8:12
The prophet Isaiah gave this message from the Lord too. Then he explains what it means:
10 For the stars of heaven and their constellations
Will not give their light;
The sun will be darkened in its going forth,
And the moon will not cause its light to shine.
11 “I will punish the world for its evil,
And the wicked for their iniquity;
I will halt the arrogance of the proud,
And will lay low the haughtiness of the terrible.Isaiah 13:10-11
God is warning the world to turn away from sin. But He isn’t trying to scare us—He’s inviting us to safety! God is letting everyone know that He will not put up with evil forever. He will put an end to it someday soon. Some people hear this as an angry God and some people hear the voice of a loving Father protecting His children. He is calling them to repentance and eternal life.
Say to them: ‘As I live,’ says the Lord God, ‘I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but that the wicked turn from his way and live. Turn, turn from your evil ways! For why should you die, O house of Israel?’ -Ezekiel 33:11
Which ears do you have? What do you hear when you read these verses? Pray for the Lord to open your ears to hear His loving voice leading you to a path of abundance and life.
How Can I Have “Ears to Hear”?
These are great ways to listen to God:
👂 Read His Word and obeying it.
👂 Trust that He knows what’s best.
👂 Follow Jesus, even when others don’t.
Is There Still Time?
Yes! God’s warnings in the book of Revelation are reminders that He wants everyone to be saved. Jesus said, “If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in” (Revelation 3:20). He is knocking—will you listen? Open the door today, while there is still time.
What Should I Do Now?
🌟 Ask Jesus to help you hear His voice.
🌟 Spend time every day in prayer and Bible study.
🌟 Shine His light by living for Him.
The world may be getting darker, but Jesus’ light will always shine. And when we follow Him, we have nothing to fear. The more we listen to God’s Word, the more we gain wisdom and understanding. His words guide us, protect us, and lead us to life. If we open our ears and hearts, we will hear His loving voice.
