The Feast of Trumpets
“And in the seventh month, on the first day of the month, you shall have a holy convocation. You shall do no customary work. For you it is a day of blowing the trumpets.” Numbers 29:1
Each year on the seventh day of the biblical festal calendar, the children of Israel were to have a day of blowing of trumpets. It was called the “Feast of Trumpets” or Yom Teruah in Hebrew. Trumpets were a means of communicating and used to get people’s attention.
In Revelation, chapters 8 and 9, seven angels sound seven trumpets and crazy things happen. Trumpets are loud and meant to get our attention. I wonder what God is trying to tell us through the symbol of the trumpets in Revelation? Read more in the following posts about trumpets to find out!

A Reminder for Us
The trumpets were also blown at the beginning of their months, on the first day of the month (Numbers 10:10). The sounding trumpets were a monthly reminder to turn back to the Lord. The Day of Trumpets was a final strong reminder to repent from their sins. It is an annual reminder for us too.
Jesus said the signs of his second coming would get stronger and closer together like the pains of childbirth, just like the warning sounds of the trumpets (Matthew 24:8). In every generation He is calling people to repent, turn from sin and be saved. The final warnings will be more intense. He does not want anyone to be destroyed by the terrible consequences of holding on to sin. So what do the trumpets mean for you today? Hold on to Jesus. Let go of anything that keeps you apart from Him. Let him cover you with His grace and mercy. He loves you so much and wants to spend eternity with you.
