The Future

The Wedding Feast

“Let us be glad and rejoice and give Him glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His wife has made herself ready.” And to her it was granted to be arrayed in fine linen, clean and bright, for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints. Then he said to me, “Write: ‘Blessed are those who are called to the marriage supper of the Lamb!;” And he said to me, “These are the true sayings of God.”

Revelation 19:7-9

Many girls dream of the day they will be a beautiful bride, wear a white dress, and marry the man of their dreams. Did you know Jesus is our bridegroom, the savior of our dreams. He is preparing a place for us and coming back soon to take us to the greatest celebration ever! In Revelation it’s called the marriage supper of the Lamb and the bride is the church – which just means everyone who has decided to follow Jesus with all their heart, mind and soul.

The ancient Jewish wedding tells us a lot about what this process looks like. It’s not as short as weddings nowadays. Back then it was a major event that usually lasted many days. Let’s look at the parts of an ancient jewish wedding and look at all the Bible texts that show how this matches what Jesus is doing for us and will do for us very soon. This is so cool!

You are special. God has chosen you and has a special plan just for you. He loves you!
We all have a choice to make. Jesus never forces anyone to follow Him. I love Jesus because He gave his life to save me, even when I didn’t deserve it. Will you give Him your heart today?
You are so valuable that Jesus died for you. He gave His life so you could have eternal life.
Jesus’ laws are a reflection of His character of love. He wants to put that same love in your heart. Will you let Him?
The communion service and the festival of Passover remind us that Jesus loves us and shed His blood for us. He doesn’t want us to forget that, or that He is coming back for us.
I can’t wait till that day when we can eat and drink together with Jesus in Heaven. Isn’t that cool that He won’t drink the fruit of the vine (aka grape juice), until he drinks it with us at that great wedding celebration.
Note: Betrothal means engagement. It is an agreement to get married. It was a very serious agreement and the engagement could not be broken without getting a divorce. The bride had to be pure and undefiled. Did you know it doesn’t matter what bad things you’ve done in the past. When you ask Jesus into your heart and ask Him to forgive you, He cleans you up and makes you pure again. Now that’s a miracle of love!
Jesus sent us the gift of the Holy Spirit after He went back to Heaven. We all have different gifts we can use to serve the Lord and others.
How does Jesus clean us up? He cleanses us not only through his forgiveness, but through His Word. That’s right, reading the Bible will change you to be more like Jesus.
Now that’s a promise to memorize. I’m so glad Jesus is coming again to take me to be with him. I’m sure he’s an amazing architect too. But the best part will be to see Him face to face!
What an amazing day that will be! I can’t wait!
Now is the time to get ready for this wedding celebration. When it happens it will be too late to change your mind and decide you want to go in to the wedding after all. Read the parable Jesus told about this in Matthew chapter 25. He is inviting you today. Say yes!

And they all lived happily ever after. Only this isn’t a fairy tale. Every word is true!

I plan to be at the marriage supper of the Lamb. You are invited and I hope to see you there too!
